Work's Reward

A person will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the work of a person’s hands will reward him.
— Proverbs 12:14 CSB

Today is Labor Day in the U.S.; for most this is a day to celebrate and enjoy a few of the rewards for work well done:

  • A silent alarm clock.
  • A slower pace.
  • Fewer demands.
  • Time with family and friends.

Work is one of God's good gifts and so is rest. The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us:

There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven.
— Ecclesiastes 3:1 CSB

Today is a day to enjoy the rest of "non-labor day as a gift from God.

Happy Labor Day!

NOTE: Shannan and I have been laboring joyfully and fully in Campinas, Brazil. Today we head to Sao Paulo for an address I am giving to the IPI, the Independent Presbyterian Churches of Brasil: What Makes A Leader A Transforming Leader. I would appreciate your prayers.

Don't Ask The Fish will resume on Thursday, September 7.
