The Cutting Room Floor
When it comes to preaching, my weekly challenge was not having enough to share, it was having too much to share. It seemed that most every week I was wading through a river of Greek and Hebrew exegetical helps, a number of biblical commentaries, historical sources, and then topping it off with healthy dialog with trusted friends on our staff. In the end, I could not include everything I had studied in a sermon, only what I sensed were the essential things that contributed to the message God had for that week. Of course that left me with pages of notes that at times end up βon the cutting room floor.β
