The Two Minute "Ambition Check-up"

In the end, just as there are only two kinds of piety, the self-centered and the God-centered, so there are only two kinds of ambition: one can be ambitious either for oneself or for God. There is no third alternative.
— John Stott

Stott's admonition echos Jesus' words:

31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:31-33 ESV

The two minute check-up: Suspend everything for two minutes. Prayerfully reflect on what it means for you to seek first the rule and reign of God in your life and in our world today. Ask the Lord to help you be ambitious for Him.
