Listen to advice and accept instruction,
that you may gain wisdom in the future.
Proverbs 19:20 ESV
The Quote:
"You can spend a year's worth of commutes listening to talk-show hosts spout off on the latest issues, but if you do that, you'll be unchanged at the end of the year. In all the years I've commuted to work, I don't remember a single traffic or weather report that has changed the course of my life or redirected me into God's purpose. However, by spending a year listening to the men and women to whom God has given great insight, I can become a better person."
Gary Thomas,
The Question:
God urges us to listen for wisdom because nothing we desire compares with wisdom (Proverbs 3:15). Listening means being attentive to God's Word, to godly advice, and to being open to constructive criticism from the people God places in your path. Listen well and you'll have God's treasure map to wisdom. Find wisdom and you'll walk through life skillfully and with his blessing. Great listeners use their ears, their eyes, their undivided attention, and their heart? Does anything need to change for you to be a better listener?
Note: 6 "Ears" = 2 ears, 2 eyes, undivided attention, heart.
