No matter what you are facing . . . God is big enough! Question: How much water is in the ocean? Answer: 333,000 cubic miles!
Question: How much of that can you hold in the palm of your hand? Answer: About three ounces (unless you are the Jolly Green Giant!)
Question: How many stars are in the heavens? Answer: Billions!
Question: How many can you name? Answer: Probably three or four.
Standing on the ocean shore or gazing at a starlit sky puts my true size into perspective. That is a good thing. It's a God thing! God wants me to understand my problems in their true perspective—his perspective. It is a lesson he wanted the nation of Israel to learn as well.
Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? (Isaiah 40:9-12, 26 ESV) I've come to grips with the fact that I'm not big enough. I’m not big enough to gather the ocean. I’m not big enough to count the stars. BUT GOD IS!
Think about that . . . . If God is big enough to cup the ocean in the palm of his hand, he is big enough to hold your problem. And if God knows the name of every star, he knows your name too.
What's your challenge today? God is big enough!
